Who is stronger Venom or Carnage?

Is Carnage Venom's son?
In prison,Venom produces an offspring named Carnage. (He reproduces asexually, in case you were wondering.) Venom doesn't tell Eddie about this, and Venom and Eddie escape prison. Once they're gone, Carnage bonds with Cletus.
The idea that he would get stronger after eating Carnage seems to stem from the idea that he would absorb Carnage's symbiotic powers and properties and therefore get stronger. However, unlike Rogue's mutant powers, Venom does not absorb Carnage, but consumes him.

Venom wasn't even the strongest of the symbiotes to come over the years. Marvel created Carnage to show that there is a symbiote stronger than Spider-Man and Venom - prompting the two rivals to team up and neutralize the threat.
